EDMONTON – An Alberta Health Services EMS practitioner was killed this morning after a
collision between an ambulance and a truck near McLennan. Another EMS staff member, a
patient and a family member who were being transported at the time of the collision, were all
taken to hospital in stable condition.
“Our deepest condolences go to the families and friends affected by this tragedy,” says Sue
Conroy, Senior Vice President with EMS, Alberta Health Services. “Our immediate concern is
their well-being and we are doing all we can to support them during this difficult time.”
In honour of their colleague and friend, EMS stations will be lowering their flags to half-mast
across Alberta.
“This loss is felt provincewide, across the entire continuum of care and by all allied emergency
services personnel,” says Conroy. “Our sympathies are extended to all.”
Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering
health supports and services for more than 3.7 million adults and children living in Alberta. Its
mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable
for all Albertans
